SOS: We are Going on Vacation and I Better Learn to Pack!
Yup. I am a professional organizer and I am horrific at packing. I have a long history of ridiculous choices, many of which can be catalogued by Charley (as he has suffered the consequences). I'm not sure what the reason for my brain dysfunction is, but it probably comes from the same place that the difference between Advil/Tylenol/Ibuprofen lives in my noggin.
Historically, I pack too many clothes I won't wear and not enough of what I will. I usually also forget something important, like a hairbrush or my running shoes, too, so there's that.
Regardless, packing for a family vacation with a kid is WAY more complicated than when you just have to pack for yourself. I can't get away with packing like a fool any longer.
We have two vacations this summer, one to Door County and another longer road trip for a wedding in Colorado. I am packing for myself, Aily, and Diesel (for Door County). Diesel is the easiest one! I've done some research, and this Huff-Post article is the best resource I've found. I hope you find it a helpful resource if you suffer from the same poor packing gene that I do!
If you have travel packing trips to share, I would love to hear them. Enjoy the summer, friends!
