Overwhelmed by Photos?

Today is a guest post from our friends at Art Pix 3D (they also created the lovely infographic attached to this blog post). Many of my clients have PILES of old photos and struggle with how to organize them in a way that makes sense.

See below for a primer on how to get started with organizing your photos. I would love to hear how you handle your pictures, as well as how you sort and curate the digital photos from your phone. Goodness gracious, that's a job.

What To Do With Your Old Family Photos

1. Gather your photos for organizing.

Organizing your photos starts by gathering them into one place. Next, group them into categories, whether time periods, themes, people or something else. Group those categories into subcategories and then label everything clearly.

2. Throw away bad ones.

Amid organizing, you will probably run into some images that have no value to you. Blurry, out of focus, unrecognizable or otherwise uninteresting photographs aren’t worth saving. Throw them away.

3. Celebrate your favorites.

You also will likely find photos that hold special meaning to you — favorite pictures with loved ones or memories from significant moments in your life. These photos are the ones worth commemorating in frames or other mementos.

For more ideas on how to showcase and treasure older photos, take a look at the attached infographic, which provides several ways to preserve and use these precious heirlooms!
